Pikmin

My kids like to play the video game Pikmin. If you have never heard of Pikmin or never seen one, they are little creatures that have leaves and/or flowers at the top of their heads. One evening, my children decided to BE Pikmin. So, they made themselves little hats out of aluminum foil and put a leaf in the top of it.

Seven got rid of his leaf and put flowers in his hat instead.
Finn's leaf wasn't that big, but it was there.

Piper and Finn even turned their Furbies into Pikmin!

Finn's Apple

Granny has a picture of a mouse (not a real one) that bit a face into an apple. The kids do that with their apples sometimes.

Finn bit a face into his apple and was trying to mimic the face he made.

What Happened to Your Hair?

One afternoon I noticed Rilian's hair looked a little different...
There was a small section of it sticking up, kind of like Alfalfa, from The Little Rascals.
I asked Rilian, "What happened to your hair?" He replied, "Finn sucked on it." Finn used to have a bad habit, if you want to call it that, of licking Seven and Rilian's hair. I thought we had moved past that, but I guess Finn was regressing that day.

Port Aransas

Let me warn you that this post has alot of pictures, so it is kind of long...

After spending the day at Seaworld, we drove on to Port Aransas for a family reunion that was happening the next day. It was Jeremy's dad's side of the family. We stayed in this lovely beach house with Jeremy's parents and one of Jeremy's brothers and sister-in-law and two of their sons.

My kids have never been to the beach! The last time Jeremy and I went was on our honeymoon to the Bahamas and that was 13 years ago! Needless to say, the kids were VERY excited! They were running down the pier towards the beach...
But I made them all stop so I could take a picture.
The first time that their precious feet touched the ocean...
It was hard for them to be still for a picture because they were SO excited!
I should have thought this through a little better, but we went down to the beach in regular clothing (not swimsuits) because in about an hour we were going to the family reunion. Before we got to the water, I had warned the kids that we weren't going to get wet right now, but when we came back later we would wear our swimsuits and be able to play in the ocean. Rilian, Finn, and Seven were just standing in the ocean...like they were told...
Seven raising his hands in excitement behind Finn!
Rilian taking it all in...
I think I caught Finn in a run. He was running away from the waves.
Rilian was just standing there enjoying the waves lapping at his feet.
Taking a walk down the beach...
The kids noticed the tiny clams on the beach. The clams would get washed up with the waves and then burrow back down into the sand. They were trying to pick them up in the video. Notice Seven's shorts are a little wet at the bottom, but he is still trying to stay dry as he runs away screaming as the waves come up...
Handsome Finn holding up his shorts legs so the waves don't get them wet...
 Drawing in the sand...
I know it is a Texas beach, but it's pretty. I love the beach!
Rilian was slowly getting braver and venturing out further into the ocean...
Seven digging in the sand...
Trying to make a sand castle...

Rilian has always loved dirt and throwing it. I love how I caught the wet sand in the air as he threw it!
I guess Seven forgot he wasn't supposed to get wet...
And Rilian forgot too...I love Seven's excited squeals!
Piper, Finn, and Seven caught some of the tiny clams and put them in a small pool that Finn had dug. Watch how cool they are as they burrow down into the sand!
Remember earlier how I said that I should have known better than to expect my kids to stay dry when there is water and especially when that water is the ocean which they have never seen before? Well, it happened...Seven got braver and the ocean was just too tempting to stay out of...and since I am such a cool mom, I didn't complain when he got his clothes soaked. He was having too much fun...and I know my kids and if there is water, they are most likely going to get in it!
Piper and Finn saw that Seven was out in the ocean, so I guess they figured, if he can do it, so can they! Rilian wasn't quite brave enough to go that far out yet.
Rilian was content just to play on the shore line. Piper, Finn, and Seven went out pretty far. Piper and Finn came in and Seven stayed out in the ocean until Jeremy called him in to go back to the beach house to put on dry clothes so we could go to the family reunion.
The family reunion was in Rock Port. We got to ride the ferry over! Our vehicle was one of the first ones on, so we had a pretty good view. We stayed in our vehicle. We could have gotten out, but by the time everyone unbuckled and got out, it would have been time to get back in the vehicle and buckle back up. The ride wasn't that long of a ride.
The family reunion took place in the house that some of the other family members were staying in. It had a cool porch on the roof. The sunset was beautiful!
Jeremy's dad (Dale) is in the blue plaid shirt. Rilian decided he wanted to be in the picture with Granny. This is Dale and his brothers and sister and their spouses. One sister wasn't able to come. There are five siblings.
These are the cousins (or at least the ones who were able to come)...or children of the people in the above photo.
And their children...
The next morning after breakfast, we packed up and headed to the beach. This time wearing our swimsuits! Finn started out playing in the sand...
Piper, Seven, and Rilian were playing in the sand after being in the ocean for a little while.

Jeremy made a face...the hair is seaweed, if you are wondering.

Jeremy also constructed a "dum dum want a gum gum" from Night at the Museum.

All the kids (and Jeremy and I) ventured out into the ocean that was as deep as our chests. I did not take any pictures of that because I do not have a Lifeproof case on my iPhone...I don't even have a case on my iPhone! I did not dare risk getting it wet. In fact, most of the time that we were on the beach, it stayed in a ziplock bag...the same one I used at Seaworld

This last picture cracks me up every time I see it! We couldn't find Rilian at the beach house and while I was looking for him, I opened the bathroom door to see if maybe he was in there. This is what I saw...
He was standing in the shower with the glass door closed with this expression on his face! I asked him how he got in there. He said he climbed in over the glass wall (side of the shower). Apparently, he didn't know how to get out!
