Barney's Birthday Bash

On Saturday, January 15, 2011, we made Seven the happiest three year old alive! We were at a friend's Birthday party when we told him what we where we were about to go...
In case you didn't know, Seven is Barney's BIGGEST fan! We were waiting for Barney to start. Sorry if this video grosses you out, but he is three, what more can I say?
I thought it was nice of Barney to invite Seven and lots of other children and their parents to his Birthday party.
I'd say he was enjoying himself.
There he is, Barney, in all his purple glory. He was welcoming everyone to his Birthday Bash.
Seven was so tired! Barney's Birthday Bash was during Seven's nap time. We had the option of either going at 11:00 or 3:30. We chose 3:30 so we could go to a friend's Birthday party also.
Barney and his over-joyous friends (back-up dancers) dancing on stage. I must say that they were extremely animated! I know that is one job that I definitely could NOT do. There is absolutely no way I could even pretend to be that excited dancing on stage with Barney.
B.J., Riff, Barney, and Baby Bop.

Seven stayed awake the whole time. It looks like he is intensely watching...he was!
What's a Birthday party without streamers? Barney shot out streamers and they really flew far! We were sitting in the middle section and an orange one landed right in front of Seven. Little did Barney know that orange is Seven's FAVORITE color! Seven brought it home with him.
And of course, when you make a mess, you have to clean it up...
There was a 15 minute intermission. During that intermission, Jeremy took Seven to go eat some cotton candy, thinking some sugar would help to wake him up some. Seven also came back with this nice souvenir that had Barney, Baby Bop, B.J., and Riff on it. It also lit up, as you can tell. He has taken very good care of it since he has brought it home. He stores it on the top shelf of his closet so no one can mess with it and so nothing happens to it.
I was trying to get a good picture of Seven with his "wand", but he wouldn't ever hold it beside his face. He was so tired, he didn't want to cooperate and kept putting it in front of his face. Oh well, at least you get to see the "wand" from two different angles.
I can't end this blog post without Barney's infamous song!

You may be wondering, "Why in the world would you let your kid watch Barney?!?" Well, you need to ask Granny Joyce that question, not me. She is the one who introduced Seven to Barney. If it were up to me, Seven would have no clue that Barney exists! Once Seven knew who Barney was, he developed a great love for the big purple dinosaur. When he was younger, it was almost as if Barney was a drug. Now, Seven is his BIGGEST fan! At least Barney promotes good things and has good morals. I guess it's not too bad, it could be worse...

I won!

I hope everyone had a good New Year's Eve, I know I did! I have been on a winning streak lately. It started out with Gowalla, during their Gifts on the Go. In December, they were giving away free gifts randomly as you checked-in, from December 1st through Christmas day. If you already Gowalla, you understand what I mean, if not, check it out. It's fun. I have to admit that I thought it was dumb at first. My husband was on Gowalla before me. Everywhere we went, he would "check-in" using Gowalla. I made fun of him. Well, one day he had my iPhone and just happened to install the app on it for me. Once I stated using it, I was hooked. Gowalla is very similar to Facebook Places and Foursquare, but I think Gowalla is the best. Anyway, I won a Livestrong Hoodie from Gowalla. I was excited that I actually won something.

For the past few years, Jeremy and I have gone to Red Letter Rock Fest. It has been in Snyder, Texas. It is a huge concert with alot of Christian bands. The past few years, it has been a two day event. However, this year, it was on New Year's Eve. Tickets were $25 each. If you do the math, for both Jeremy and I to go would be $50. The bands that were there this year were

New Year's Eve was on Friday night this year. On Wednesday, I saw on Facebook that P.O.D. was giving away two tickets to three people randomly who commented on their Facebook page. I thought I would give it a chance, so I commented that I lived about an hour and a half away from where Red Letter Rockfest would be. I said that I hadn't bought tickets yet, so if they gave me tickets, my husband and I wouldn't have to buy them. A little while later, Andrea, with P.O.D.'s promotions crew sent me a message to my Facebook inbox saying that I won a free Warrior T-Shirt and that they were sorry I did not win the tickets. I thanked them and thought to myself, "Hey, at least I won something!"

The next day, I received another message from Andrea telling me that one of the winners of the tickets cancelled and said they couldn't attend, so if I hadn't already bought tickets, they were mine. I immediately messaged her back saying that I hadn't bought tickets and that I had planned on doing it later on that day. But now I wouldn't have to! I guess procrastination pays off sometimes. This is one of the ways that God has provided for my family. He gave us tickets to Red Letter Rock Fest, so we wouldn't have to spend $50 dollars that we really couldn't afford to spend. In case any of you are wondering, we had a really good time.

A few weeks ago, we entered in a chance to win a ticket to Barney Live in Concert. Seven is Barney's BIGGEST fan! That actually might be an understatement! What do you know? We won! I'm not going to go into detail about taking Seven to see Barney Live in this post. This event deserves its own post. So, check back later and you can read about it.

And my winning streak didn't end with Barney. I won Stars Go Dim's new single. I really like them, especially after hearing them at Red Letter Rock Fest. You can download their Love Gone Mad album on their website for free! How awesome is that?!?

So, in the past month, you can see how lucky I have been. I hope my winning streak continues, but all good things must come to an end.

Garbage Pail Kids

Do any of you remember Garbage Pail Kids? I was a child in the 80's and I played with them. I know, I am dating myself, but it's my blog, so I am allowed to. I was more of a tomboy, so my choice of toys weren't typically the ones that girls played with. I did have one Barbie and a She-Ra. But, I also have a brother who is 15 months younger than me and if I wanted him to play with me, I had to play what he was playing.

Piper for some odd reason decided to sit in the trash can. Don't worry, there wasn't any trash in it yet. When she did this, it reminded me of the Garbage Pail Kids, except she is definitely cuter! I cannot explain why Piper does some of the things she does. I wish I knew what goes on in her head sometimes to make her think to do some of the things she does. Or, maybe I don't want to know...
And of course, Finn had to do it too. Monkey-see, monkey-do.
Seven and Rilian also wanted to try, but they weren't quite big enough to "sit" on the rim like Piper and Finn.

Piper's Creativity

I love Piper's creativity! Piper likes a challenge. She doesn't like to do things the easy way. For example, if Piper is going to walk through a room and there is a table in the middle, she will go over the table or under the table. She will not go around, like most people would. That would be too easy.

Part of Piper's homework was to read a story. Well, Piper being who she is, decided she would sing the story, instead of reading it. I decided I would record her. One of my favorite things to do is watch my kids when they don't know I am watching. Piper had no idea I was recording her. You can tell at the end of the video when she realized I was recording her. She starts to smile and her face lights up.
I can't wait to see what Piper accomplishes as she grow up! She is one fun, creative, smart, and energetic girl!
